Inwardly Earthbound

Through form, texture, and material, I explore how reflection is not always gentle. It can magnify insecurities, distort what we think we know about ourselves, and reveal layers we’ve avoided. Yet, like nature, reflection also offers renewal. It reminds me that growth is uneven, imperfect, and never linear, much like the surfaces presented in my work.

This is a ceramic artwork that started with explorations of control, patience, and trust. However, its eventual development came from an accident that happened when it exploded in the kiln, thereby developing this artwork with a message that sometimes failure is part of success, as failure is a part of the development process of art. Instead, failure should rather be considered part of the artwork, a sign of the experimentation process that takes part between the artist, the artwork, and the heat.
